A Greensboro man is being charged with murder after a shooting at the Plantation Quail business on Highway 15 between Greensboro and Siloam on April 4.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to 1940 Hwy. 15 South at noon on Friday, in reference to the shooting of an employee by another employee at the lower processing warehouse.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers took Dimas Sanchez Ruiz of Greensboro, 40, into custody without incident and quickly located the victim, Rod-Riez Dameyian Tripp, 30, of Union Point, and began to render aid and lifesaving measures.
The scene was secured, and Greene County Fire Rescue and EMS responded quickly and transported Tripp to Piedmont Hospital in Athens, where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of gunshot wounds.
Ruiz is being charged with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.
The GBI Region Six Office in Milledgeville was called in to assist in the investigation. Other agencies, including the Georgia State Patrol and Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, also responded due to the initial 911 call of multiple shots being fired at a place of industry.
No other victims or suspects were identified, and there was no immediate threat to any nearby residences or communities.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
