Aubrey Carter

Aubrey Edward Carter, 78, passed away peacefully at his Lake Oconee residence on September 5, 2025.

Mr. Carter was born on March 26, 1947, in Hednesford, Staffordshire, England. Mr. Carter was a 1973 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, receiving his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Metallurgy. He dedicated 34 years to Delta Air Lines, retiring as General Manager, Enabling Technologies. Mr. Carter also served as an Aviation Investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board, and Chairperson/ Advisor in Aging Aircraft for the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Mr. Carter also had a passion for designing and drafting residential blueprints as well as all aspects of home construction.

He loved studying genealogy and history, gardening, golf, music, following his Tech Yellow Jackets and the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with his family and rescue pups.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Lionel and Barbara Jean Carter, and brother Stephen John Carter. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Carter, daughters Rosemarie Carter-Williams (Ronald) of Griffin, and Christine (Brian) Tillman of Eatonton, brother Alan (Barbara) Carter of Canton, his beloved grandchildren Brandon (Keri) Fennell, Hannah (Clayton) Hostetter, Ashlee (Joseph) Gosman, Haley Elise (Gregory) Cooper, Amber Lynn Tillman, and five great grandchildren.
