Betty Barnes

Betty Ann Barnes, 60, of Eatonton, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, to Gwendolyn Herring Barnes and the late Ira Newton Barnes III. 

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Michael Herring. Betty Ann was a very kind-hearted lady who enjoyed arts and crafts, fishing, gardening, and working on the family farm. She was a mail carrier for 18 years and also worked as a sewing instructor for Sara Lee Hanes and as an assistant to Liz Denham at Denham Tire. Betty especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

A visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 3 to 4 p.m., followed by a service at 4 p.m. 

Following the service, the burial was at the Barnes family cemetery.

She is survived by her son Steven Mark Pinson (Les), mother Gwen Barnes, brothers Willian Herring (Nick), Ira Newton Barnes III (Peggy), Richard Andrew Barnes (Anita), and Bill Barnes (Angie), grandchildren Hayden Pinson, Jason Pinson, Clara Pinson, Ella Pinson, Bria Pinson, Gabriel Herring, and Adler Herring, aunts Betty Joyce Powell and Joanne Herring, several nieces and nephews, cousins whom she loved, and special friend Cliff Casey. 

Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
