Betty Carolyn Carter Sills

Betty Carolyn Carter Sills, age 95, passed away on February 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

She was born on January 4, 1931, in Putnam County and joyfully called it her home for most of her life. Betty was the only child of Elisha Hudson Carter and Ella Louise Wilson Carter and grew up on the family dairy farm. In her young adulthood, she trained to be a radiology technician and worked at Jordan Hospital in Eatonton.

However, most people know her as Ms. Betty from Shoppers Pharmacy, where she served her community with pride for over 30 years. She was a fiercely loyal daughter, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She never showed anything other than kindness to all. She proved to be a resilient woman who persevered through many challenges in her time. Betty raised her two children as a single mother and cared for both her parents in their elder years.

Betty’s pride and joy was her family, especially her three granddaughters. She shared a home with her daughter and grandchildren for 24 years and participated in all the family escapades. Her sweet tea and made-from-scratch biscuits were legendary.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eatonton and the Phoenix Homemakers.

Betty is survived by her two children Carter Sills and Beth Sills Bridges and three granddaughters Sara Bridges, Grace Bridges and Lilly Bridges. Her family will carry her love and quiet strength with them forever.

Services in honor of Betty Sills will be held at First Baptist Church in Eatonton on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., and the memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. A private graveside service will follow at Bible Fellowship Church.
