Carlene White Collis

Carlene White Collis, born September 11, 1929, passed away on January 1, 2026, with her family by her side. 

She was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, to Robie and Estelle White.

She was educated in the Campbell County school system and earned her teaching degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. She dedicated forty years to teaching and touching countless lives.

Her teaching career began in Dayton, Ohio, where she also met her husband, Glynn. The two later moved to Eatonton, Georgia, where they raised their family.

She was a devoted and active member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. She was well known throughout the community for her gardening skills.

She took great pride in pickling, freezing, and preserving vegetables to feed her family. She loved preparing meals for her family during the holidays. She poured her heart into her family, and nothing brought her more joy than seeing her children and grandchildren gathered around her table. She enjoyed reading and fishing; these were simple pleasures that brought her peace and joy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glynn, and their children, Glynn Jr., Teddy, and Wayne.

Her children survive her: Sam (Deborah), Gwen Kennedy, Marion (Shelby), Carla DeLoach (Scott), and Jennifer Gore (John), and her sister JoAnne McHenry. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
