Donald was a graduate of Putnam County Schools in the mid 70’s. He worked for a large printing company in Atlanta before returning to Lake Sinclair in the late 70’s and 80’s. He also worked for Newton Lumber Supply Co. delivering building supplies for both lakes, as Oconee and Wallace Dam were both under construction. He was employed at Bulldog Tire in Eatonton for a number of years and later moved back to the beloved dairy farms.

He spent his last years with family on Lake Sinclair taking time feeding the wild animals, deer, raccoons, foxes and others. Donald enjoyed time with his grandnephews Avery and Logan Thomas, teaching them the ways of life and nature.

He was a true woodsman caring for all. Plus, an avid fisherman and taught fishing tips to many generations of nieces and nephews.

At the end while in hospice care he would spend days at the farm returning to care in the evening, until surrendering his fight with cancer.

Donald would like us all to know to be kind to the wildlife, and to share this world with them.
