Doria was born on March 15, 1962, in Cleveland Ohio and passed away peacefully on April 23, 2022.
A celebration of life event will be scheduled for Doria in the near future.
She spent many years traveling state to state due to her father’s position with General Electric. Places like St. Louis, where she would meet her childhood and lifelong best friend Elizabeth, and Chicago IL, where she attended school for fashion and design. Before her last big move to Eatonton, GA, Doria lived in Manitowoc Wisconsin. Here she met her boyfriend, Lars. After refusing to move down south again with her parents, she and Lars later visited only for him to realize that the weather is much better year-round. So, with little discussion Doria and Lars packed up and moved to Eatonton 35 years ago. They would come to marry each other on the hottest day of the year in the middle of July on her parents’ front lawn in a wedding dress she designed and handmade.
Doria was a unique, free-spirited person whose enthusiasm and loyalty endeared her to everyone. In addition to being a seamstress, Doria entertained several other occupations over the years which were as varied as her range of friends. One that brought her joy and recognition was her “Doria’s One of a Kind” handmade jewelry business. Another, her favorite, was the time she spent with her soulmate Greg McAllister, operating a small restaurant at a local marina called “The Deck”. Whatever she pursued, she did it with determination, passion and a sincere desire to please others. You would never find her without a huge gleaming smile on her face that she hoped to reflect on yours.
Doria holds a very special place in our hearts. Her presence can never be replaced, but her spirit still shines brightly. Doria is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Maurine Huggins; daughter Erica Alecksen; and husband Lars Alecksen.
Doria is survived by her son, Charles Alecksen; her partner, Greg McAllister; her siblings Fred Huggins and wife Katherine; Amy Paine and husband Steve; Olivia Rabenold and husband Mark. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Rick Huggins, Victoria Huggins, Julia McKelvey, Harold Paine, Matthew Paine, Alex Rabenold and Andria Rabenold.
