Faye Hammond Humphrey, 84, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on March 19, 2025.
She was born December 6, 1940, in Thomson, Georgia, to the late R.L Hammond and Mary Lucille Hammond, the youngest of three children.
Faye graduated from Thomson High School.
Faye met her only love, Bobby R. Humphrey, in the small town of Thomson, where they were married in July of 1960. Their life revolved around outdoor activities and raising their only daughter, Shawn. They spent most of their life living near family in Warner Robins, Georgia.
In 1986, they moved to Milledgeville, Georgia, to be near their daughter Shawn and her husband Bert Davis. After the passing of her husband, Faye moved to Putnam County to live next door to Shawn and Bert.
Faye retired from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Central Regional Crime Lab in July 2004. She spent many years working at a job she enjoyed and spending each day working side by side with her daughter, Shawn. She enjoyed many years of long friendships with her co-workers.
Faye spent the last 16 years caring for and enjoying the company of her furry companion Penni. Penni gave everything in life to bring her joy and laughter. No one gives more love than a dog. They were inseparable to the end.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Shawn H. Davis, and her son-in-law, Bert Davis, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held at Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Friday March 21st so that she can again rest peacefully beside her Bobby.
Faye often donated to the Putnam County Animal Services to help care for rescued pets.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her passing with a memorial donation to the shelter can mail it to: Putnam County Animal Services, 107 Ridley Dr., Eatonton, GA 31024. Moores Funeral Home & Crematory in Milledgeville had charge of arrangements.
