Freda Christine Jackson passed away on July 4th, 2025, at her home in Eatonton.
Born in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Paul and Gertrude Stewart, she is survived by her sister, Evelyn Mueller, and brother, Carl Stewart (Susan).
Variously known as Christine and Tinker, she is best known and loved as Mama J. Always the life of the party, Christine loved travel, cruise ships, and casinos. She hosted many great parties and planned several family weddings over the years. As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she traveled extensively in the US, in addition to pleasure trips to Europe, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.
Married to the late Hubert Jackson for 60 years, she is also preceded in death by their son, Clint Jackson, and son-in-law David Padgett.
Family businesses included Jackson MHC in Loganville, Jefferson Street Restaurant in Eatonton, and Mama J’s Restaurant in Milledgeville.
Surviving children are Debra Padgett of Carlton, Dwayne Jackson (Cindy) of Statesboro, and Darryl Jackson of Loganville.
Grandchildren are Wesley Jackson, David “Drew” Padgett, Joseph Jackson (Candice), Charles “Alex” Jackson (Patience), Heather Krause (Buddy), Aimee Lorts Turner (Leon), Alexandria Jackson, Elizabeth Egnor, and Dakota Jackson. Great-grandchildren: Brian, Reagan, Emery, Wyatt, Justin, Carlson, Archie, and Gracie. Great-great-grandchildren Kingston and Chloe made the fifth living generation.
The family will hold a memorial at a later date.
