It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Garrett Harrison Shelby, who left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 40. He leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Glenn and Diane Shelby; his brothers, Glenn Shelby Jr. (Candice) and John Paul Shelby (Angela); and his sisters, Beth Shelby Baldwin (Chuck) and Stephanie Shelby Williams (Ricky). Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Betty Shelby, and Paul and Nora Wells.
Garrett had a deep love for sports growing up. He played soccer, baseball, basketball, and football before discovering his passion for wrestling, where he truly excelled. He won two state championships in his weight division while competing for Windsor Academy in Macon.
He built a long career in telecommunications, specializing in fiber optics. His work allowed him to travel and experience many cities across the United States. Of all the places he visited, Amelia Island remained his favorite. Whether relaxing on the beach, fishing from the pier, or searching for sharks’ teeth, Garrett found peace and joy there, especially when surrounded by family.
Garrett will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing he has found peace in the arms of his Savior. At a young age, he had Isaiah 40:31 inscribed on his back
