Gary Philip Sims, age 75, left his earthly family and joined his Holy Father and Savior on November 10, 2023. A memorial service was held at 11:30 am Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at All Angels Episcopal Church in Eatonton with Rev. Loree Reed officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or The Oconee Regional Humane Society. Gary was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Rondal and Bessie Greene Sims. He had no siblings but was blessed with cousins who surely brought fun and mischief to his childhood.
Gary was born on May 2, 1948. He honorably served his country in the Army. He began a successful career in hotel and hospitality management. During the span of his career, he and his family lived in Orlando and Miami, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. His gifts in hotel and resort management afforded him his choice of when to move and places to live and raise a family.
Gary loved God, his family, and his country.
He never complained and never had an unkind word to say about anything. He offered trust and help to anyone who asked.
His memory will be cherished forever by his wife Christine Gray Sims, his children, Rondal Sims, Darcy Watts Cannon, and Christopher Sims, daughter-in-law Jessica, and son-in-law Todd, along with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as a brother and sister-in-law.
