James L. Green, age 75 of Hayesville, North Carolina, formerly of Eatonton, Georgia, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, October 7, 2022. He was a native of Moultrie, Georgia, and was raised on the family farm. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agriculture Engineering. He then returned to Moultrie where he worked for Colquitt EMC as an engineer. James moved his growing family to Stone Mountain, Georgia and worked for Oglethorpe Power Corporation. In 1985, they moved to Lake Oconee where he established JACO Electric which evolved into a successful airfield lighting business, which he led for 25 years until retirement. James was a visionary in his field and an entrepreneur at heart. James had a love for flying throughout his life. For the last several years of his life, James lived at his mountain property in Hayesville which he loved. He regularly attended Bible Missionary Baptist Church. James enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, and raising trout in his pond.
He was the son of the late D.A. and Louise Hough Green.
He is survived by three sons, David Green and Kristi Stone of Brentwood, Tennessee; Jeff Green and wife, Stacey, and Jason Green and wife, Megan all of Lake Oconee, Georgia; a sister, Ann G. Herndon and husband, Chip of Johnson City, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Libby and A.
Jacks Green, Lindsey and Emily Green, and Jase and Charlotte Green; and two nieces, Kristy and Holly. He is also survived by the mothers of his three sons, Karla Chandler and Brenda Green. Funeral Services were held at 3 PM Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Bible Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Doyce Waters officiating. The family received friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the church, prior to the service.
A graveside service was held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Kimball United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia with cousin Luther Green officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of James L. Green be made to Bible Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 1009, Hayesville, North Carolina 28904 or to Kimball United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4010 Ga Hwy 33 S. c/o Carol Hancock, Doerun, Georgia 31744. Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville was in charge of arrangements.
