Jeffrey Lynn Lemming, affectionately known as Jeff or Lemdog, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026 in Greensboro, Georgia, after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jeff will be remembered for his wisdom, humor, charm, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Passing at age 73, he is gone far too soon. Born on July 10, 1953, in Huntington, West Virginia, Jeff was the son of the late General and Edna Lemming. From an early age, his work ethic, sharp wit and boundless curiosity set him apart. After graduating Miami University, he pursued success with a passion, became exceptionally well read and was blessed with a memory that impressed everyone who knew him. Jeff had a talent for spotting details, whether finding inconsistencies in a movie or catching a misplaced comma in a resume. He was quick to correct grammar, always with a gleam in his eye and good humor in his heart.
Professionally, Jeff was a gifted businessman, entrepreneur, investor, and mentor whose leadership left a lasting mark on all who worked with him. He built and sold Lemming/ LeVan to TMP/Monster Worldwide, Inc. in 1999, an accomplishment that reflected his incredible entrepreneurial drive and Midas-like sense of timing. Colleagues remember him as someone who always made time to guide them with honesty, humor, and genuine care. He rarely sought credit or the spotlight often stating, “The spouting whale gets the harpoon.” His final employer, Caldwell Partners, recently named their annual Culture Award after Jeff.
While work brought him success, it was his close relationships that brought him happiness. He was a loyal, lifelong friend who valued the quality of friendships over quantity. Jeff enjoyed golf, reading, boating, as well as rooting for the Ohio State University, Atlanta Braves & Falcons, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds. He especially enjoyed high-stakes blackjack in Las Vegas as well as a wide range of musical styles including the Beatles, Jazz, and the Blues. After meeting the love of his life, Ellen Dracos, Jeff became an avid ACC basketball fan (Go Duke and GT!) and learned to enjoy international travel, especially to Paris, Florence, Japan and Kenya. Jeff approached all his hobbies – and life – with remarkable patience, curiosity and precision. He was a calculated risk-taker whose gambles frequently paid off. Jeff was a 26+ year member of Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA, as well as a member of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL. He is a former member of Cherokee Town & Country Club and Horseshoe Bend in Atlanta, GA.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen Dracos Lemming; his daughter, Victoria (Tory) Eulenfeld; his son, Matthew Lemming (Erin Riebel); his grandson, Jacob Eulenfeld; his sister, Kelly Kill (Larry); brother-in-law F. Jonathan Dracos (Robin); sister-in-law Diane Dracos Cutshaw (Kenneth); brother-in-law William Dracos (Crista) and a myriad of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Jeannette Castello, David Lemming, and Gerald Lemming.
Memorial service arrangements will be announced at a future date. Jeffrey Lynn Lemming was – by all measures – an amazing man; smart, quick-witted, endlessly curious, patient, generous, kind, and full of heart. His kind eyes, smile, insights, and friendship will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
