Johnny William Williamson, Jr., age 92, passed away May 24th at his residence.
Mr. Williamson was a native of Upson County and had resided in Putnam County for most of his life.
He was a man of many talents. He began his career working at a Body Shop, hauled pecans to New York City in the 1950s, and owned a skating rink before moving to Putnam County. He had a long career at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, spanning over 30 years, and retired as the maintenance Supervisor.
He had a gift for working with wood and building furniture, a skill shared by many in Eatonton and throughout Georgia. He loved sharing his home and time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, gardening, collecting arrowheads, and Indian artifacts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny W. Williamson, Sr., his mother, Aretta Williamson, his wife of over 50 years, Sara, his grandson, Blake Carswell, and his son-in-law, Bobby Goodwin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie (Bradley) Carswell and Gena Goodwin, his granddaughter, Natalie (Buster) Holle, his great-grandson, Parker Blake Holle, and, for the past 11 years, his treasured companion, Martha Jo Darden.
