Phillip David McMurry, 72, of Eatonton, Ga., passed away at his home on December 12, 2025.
Phillip was born in Shelby, N.C., on August 14, 1953, to the late Sedahlia Lydia Willis McMurry and Paul Edward McMurry. He was a member of Palm Tree Church in Lawndale, N.C. In 2012, Phillip retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 25 years of dedicated service as a maintenance technician. He married Mary Ann Simpson of East Point, Ga., on June 15, 1975.
Throughout his life, Phillip had several interests and hobbies, including hunting, fishing, restoring vehicles, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Ann McMurry. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann McMurry; brother, Stephen McMurry (Cindy) of Lawndale, N.C.; brothers- in-law Bruce Simpson (Cindy) of McDonough, Ga. and Kenneth Simpson (Sandy) of Ellijay, Ga.; two sons, Keith (Amber) of Gainesville, Ga., and Eric (Laurel) of Eatonton, Ga.; three grandchildren, Asher, David, and Lillian; six nephews, five greatnieces and nephews, and several cousins.
The family will receive friends and well-wishers from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, at Williams Funeral Home in Eatonton, Ga.
