Letter to the Editor: Oak Way or raceway?

Dear editor: There are a good many of us who live on Oak Way (in Eatonton) that are wondering just when it turned into a raceway.

Any time of the day or night, you can see car after car speeding down the road.

Just the other night, my boyfriend and I were turning into his driveway with turn signals on and two vehicles came by us on the driver’s side of our car barely missing us in the process. Both vehicles had to be doing over 60 mph in a 35 zone. If we had turned just the slightest, both vehicles would have plowed into the driver’s side of our vehicle.

Why aren’t our city streets patrolled?

Some are but most aren’t. What is it gonna take to get this accomplished?

There are several children who live on Oak Way and play in their front yards.

If one of these speeders loses control of their car, not only could they go through someone’s front yard but also through their home.

I was once told by a member of the Eatonton Police Department that they give tickets out on this street. When? You barely see them in this part of town.

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE before it’s too late. Let’s be a part of speaking up and see if “We the People” can get a solution to this problem.
