Letter to the Editor: Stay thankful through trying times

Dear Editor,

It has been a very trying two weeks, but I continue to say “Thank you” in the morning because I know everything is going to be all right.

My story started last week with pipes bursting underground in several places. Our home was built 54 years ago, and I’m sure the pipes are all outdated. It was fixed within two days, though, and I thought everything was perfect.

No! My husband came down with a virus Wednesday morning, my daughter also had the virus, and Friday night, so did I. And I don’t like staying in one place very long so I must admit, I am a very, very bad patient. I don’t like medication or taking orders. I’m bad, bad, bad. But now, we are all doing great and the catastrophe with the waterline is okay.

Last Saturday I attended the Luncheon of Remembrance at Butler Baker School at Legacy Hall. It was well-attended, well-planned, and decorated beautifully. The food was catered by Ms. Stellas here in Eatonton and was absolutely delicious. This was a celebration of 67 years (1956 to 2023).

Please keep any bereaved families in your prayers. Several members of this community were called home to our Heavenly Father recently. I definitely believe we will all meet again and just think of that grand celebration.

And take a moment and thank your city and county workers, law enforcement, and all public service workers. They are all doing a great job for us out there.

Thought for today: Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy.

God bless, Georgia Benjamin-Smith.
