DURHAM, N.C.-The University of Georgia Softball Team (40-16) had five athletes named to the NFCA All-Southeast Region Team. Sarah Mosley, Jayda Kearney, and Lacey Fincher were selected to the second team with Sydney Kuma and Sydney Chambley selected to the third team.
Sarah Mosley of Ellijay recorded the highest batting average at the end of the regular season at .425. She drove the big stick in the lineup driving in 16 home runs and 51 RBI. During the lone contest in the SEC Tournament, she nabbed yet another homer and an RBI to add to her season total. This is the second honor of the season for Mosley as she also was named to the All-SEC First Team.
Columbus, New Jersey, native Jayda Kearney drove in the most runs for the Bulldog offense with 54 RBI to close the regular season. She was also a pivotal member of the lineup with 15 home runs and a .368 batting average. During the SEC Tournament loss, she hit .500 with a double and two runs scored. The honor for Kearney, was her second as well as she, was an All-SEC First Team selection.
The final second-teamer was the Tanner-Williams, Alabama, native Lacey Fincher. Fincher went into the postseason with 16 home runs to lead the team with Mosley. With a .355 batting average, the senior also drove in 46 RBI. She also led the team in walks with 29 as she was intentionally walked. Fincher ended her career with her second all NFCA region nab as well as an All-SEC first-team selection.
All the way from Fresno, California, is the first All-Southeast Region Third team selection from the Dawgs roster. She hit .353 on the regular season with 12 homers and she led the team in doubles with 11. She also led the team in runs scored rounding the bases a whopping 51 times. Kuma picked up her 52nd run scored in the SEC Tournament game. This is the second season honor for Kuma as she was also named to the All-SEC Second Team.
The final Dawg to be honored was the Dallas, Georgia, native Sydney Chambley, who was named as a third teamer. Chambley had the making of a great season before she had to miss a month of play after suffering an injury playing first base in the midweek contest against Clemson University. Before the injury, she was swinging .398 with nine round-trippers. Chambley made her way back into the lineup for the SEC Tournament where she drove in one of the Dawgs’ five runs. This was the only honor for Chambley this season.
