Putnam County infielder and pitcher Hunter Holder had a phenomenal senior campaign as a War Eagle.
In 37.1 innings pitched this past season, Holder struck out 46 batters while walking just 22 and allowing just 33 hits and 27 runs.
Holder had 13 hits, 14 runs scored, and six RBIs at the plate. Defensively, he had 18 putouts on 19 attempts and turned two double plays during his 19 games in the field.
Holder’s senior campaign was impressive enough to garner interest from multiple schools and led to his commitment as a pitcher for Thomas University in Thomasville.
“It’s amazing,” Holder recently told The Eatonton Messenger. “As a kid, it was always something spectacular to look forward to accomplishing.”
He also described the hours of hard work he put in toward accomplishing his goals and how grateful he is for this opportunity.
“Thomas felt like home,” Holder explained of why he committed to Thomas University. “The coach was very welcoming, and very close friends of mine have said great things about them. And in all honesty, I wanted to be in-state very much and closer to home.”
