OUTDOORS: Spotted bass fishing

One of the things I truly enjoy is fishing for spotted bass. I love the fish! They are tough fighters and aggressive eaters, and they love to hit top water! With that combination, they make themselves far more appealing to me, and many like me, than any other freshwater fish.

WRESTLING: Putnam grapplers meet with mixed results

Putnam County High School’s wrestling team competed at Sharpsburg Dec. 9-10, in the South Metro Invitational, the longest-running tournament in Georgia since its 1971 debut.

The Georgia high school football season ended this past weekend with all eight classifications playing in Atlanta at Georgia State’s Center Park Stadium. I love watching high school football and I enjoy covering it.

BASKETBALL: Lady War Eagles show mixed results

The Putnam County High School 2022-23 girls’ basketball season opened Dec. 2, with a 69-40 loss at home to local rival Greene County. The Lady Eagles are playing under new head coach Derrik Arrington since the previous coach, Jerusha Hudson, retired after last season.

BASKETBALL: Gators are rolling into mid-point of season

Gatewood boys’ basketball split games with John Hancock Academy (JHA) and GMC Prep last week, then got back on the winning track Monday night against Young Christian Academy (YAC).

BASKETBALL: War Eagles drop first game of season

After a 5-0 start, No. 6 Putnam County lost its first varsity basketball game of the year on the road against rival Morgan County. The Bulldogs dramatically defeated the War Eagles 70-69 on Saturday. According to Putnam County head coach LaPatrick Marshall, there’s actually some upside to the loss.

BASKETBALL: Lady Gators off to hot start

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team is off to an excellent start under head coach Jordan Camp. The Lady Gators currently have an 8-1 record under Camp in her fourth year at the helm. “The season is going well,” Camp said.
