DNR: bald eagles set nesting record in Georgia

Georgia’s first statewide survey of bald eagle nests in five years showed the national bird nesting in record numbers, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Survey flights this winter and spring to find and monitor nesting bald eagles counted 229 nest territories.

With Coach Jerusha Hudson stepping down, this season Putnam County High School’s Lady Eagles will be starting this season off with a new coach, Derrick Arrington. Arrington went to college at Columbus State University and teaches high school math at Putnam County.

PCHS softball team holds preseason practice games

The King’s Cup Softball Tournament – organized by Carol Ann Guthrie, Johnny Griffith and Putnam County FCA – brought together six schools July 19 for a preseason practice game. This tournament gives the teams opportunities to get playing experience before official softball seasons begin.

War Eagles building depth in trenches during acclimation
