PCHS sends seven to state track meet

The Putnam County boys track team has qualified seven athletes to compete in the state track meet scheduled for May 12-14 at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus. Athletes heading to state had finish no lower than eighth in the sectionals held at East Laurens last weekend.

Executing a decisive bash-and-run on the next-to-last-lap of Sunday’s Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, Joey Logano wrested the lead from William Byron and ended a Cup Series 40-race winless streak dating to March of 2021 at the Bristol Dirt Track.

The Putnam County baseball team saw its 2022 season end at the hands of top-seed Vidalia this past Friday. The Indians proved to be the better team on the diamond, defeating the No. 4-seed War Eagles 16-1 and 14-1, respectively.
