War Eagles drop two close games

Over the holiday break, Putnam County’s boys basketball team was active, playing two games.The War Eagles hosted rival and Class 3A’s No. 7 Baldwin on Friday and fell 64-63 to the Braves. The next day, they participated in the HypeSouth Classic in Macon and lost to Class 5A’s No.

Defense leads Dawgs over Georgia Tech

Weakness or weapon?

Putnam girls take different approach to 2025-26 season

The Putnam County girls basketball team had a successful 2024-25 season, finishing 16-10 overall and advancing to the second round of the state playoffs. This year, the War Eagles want to accomplish more.

Dawgs, Yellow Jackets to renew Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate

After last season’s eight-overtime game, which featured a large halftime deficit, No. 4 Georgia (10-1) and No. 15 Georgia Tech (9-2) will renew their annual rivalry, called “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate,” this Friday in Atlanta.

Walker leads Georgia past 49ers

Gators basketball opens season with dominant win

Led by an eighth-grader, Gatewood’s varsity basketball team opened its 2025-26 season on the road in Sparta, Nov. 17, with a dominating 76–44 win over John Hancock Academy.
