Outdoors: Summertime heat

How many of you are sitting there saying, “Well, summer is over, and football is about to start.” Be honest. You are probably the same ones excited about pumpkin spice lattes and wearing Ug boots. Well, I hate to tell you this, but a Georgia summer doesn’t ever really end. It just has breaks.

Gators counting on experience to improve

A 5-7 finish like last year, including the playoffs, will not be enough to satisfy Gatewood head coach Jeff Ratliff this time around.

Lady War Eagles in driver’s seat of Region 4-AA

Putnam County volleyball currently is 3-4 overall but is in first place in Region 4-AA. In the non-region play, Putnam fell 2-0 at home to Baldwin on Aug. 15 with sets of 25-21 and 25-16.

Lady War Eagles have slow start to season

Putnam County softball has had a rough beginning to its season against a tough schedule but hopes to rebound in region play. The Lady War Eagles fell Aug. 16 to Oglethorpe County 22-0 before a doubleheader Aug. 19, where they lost to Oglethorpe again and then Lincoln County.
