Harmon Wages was a football player and a very good one, often underrated, but always with a flair for the dramatic, turning heads and causing headlines to sometimes drip with hyperbole. Even when there was a faux pas, it seemed to make him more popular with the Atlanta Falcons’ fan base.

Through fall 2022 to spring 2023, Putnam County High School rising seniors Lily Frisch, Tristan Lower, Jonquail Coates, and Wyatt Stanley made it to the state tournament for wrestling and now are completely focused on making it even further this year.

Gators’ basketball visits Athens, attends UGA camp

Several members of the Gatewood boys’ basketball team recently experienced something special.
Earlier this month, seven Gators’ varsity hoops players and head coach Don Keiser made the hour-long trip north on U.S. 441 to attend a basketball camp at the University of Georgia in Athens.

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team is ready to take the next step. The Lady Gators have been practicing hard individually during the off-season months and recently started summer workouts with the goal of improving as a team.

War Eagles’ football hosts golf tournament

The Putnam County Touchdown Club and football team hosted a fundraising event in the form of a golf tournament on June 10, at Eatonton’s Uncle Remus Golf Course.
The 4th-annual War Eagle Scramble drew many golfers to make it an overall successful event.
