Lady War Eagles earn All-Region honors

After a successful 2024-25 season, the Putnam County Lady War Eagles had several players garner All-Region 4-AA honors.Four players from Putnam County’s girls were named to the All-Region teams, which the coaches voted on.

Putnam girls’ season ends in Sweet 16 ‘slugfest’

The Putnam County girls’ 2024-25 basketball season ended last Friday in the second round of the state playoffs. For the third time this season, Lamar County defeated the Lady War Eagles, ending their hopes of winning a state championship.

Lady War Eagles prepare for playoff push

On Monday, the Putnam County girls’ basketball team defeated Social Circle 47-37 in the first round of the region tournament, securing a spot in the Class A Division I state playoffs.The Lady War Eagles (14-8) will now return to the postseason for the first time in almost four years.

Lady War Eagles drop two straight

Last week, Putnam County girls basketball (11-6, 2-0) had a rough time, losing two straight games against ranked teams. The Lady War Eagles dropped games to No. 7 Southwest Atlanta Christian (SAC) and No. 6 Greenforest, both ranked in Class 3A-1A Private.

Putnam girls ‘connected’ as region play begins

The Putnam County Lady War Eagles are playing some of their best basketball as region play began last week. They entered this week with an 11-4 overall record and were ranked No. 7 in Class A Division I by Kyle Sandy.

Lady War Eagles jump all over Jasper County

The Putnam County girls' basketball team was victorious on Dec. 21, defeating rival Jasper County on the road. The No. 7 ranked Lady War Eagles beat the Lady Hurricanes 54-43, improving to 9-3 overall.

Lady War Eagles relying on defense

The Putnam County girls’ basketball team entered this week on a hot streak, winning five straight games. To start December, the Lady War Eagles are 6-1 overall and ranked No. 7 in Class A Division I.

Lady War Eagles beat Morgan in thriller

The Putnam County girls’ basketball team edged out rival Morgan County 47-45 last Thursday night on the road.The Lady Dogs were set to inbound the ball with under five seconds left in the game, and they heaved up a prayer down to the other end of the court.

Lady War Eagles beat Social Circle, ready for return to region play

Putnam County got a 56-47 non-region win over Social Circle on Dec. 30. The Lady War Eagles improved to 11-2 as they now prepare for region play. Kamyra Aikens (15 points), Jaikarccie Smith (12 points), and Journey Waller (12 points) led Putnam County in scoring.
