Milledgeville gang members shoot at rivals in Eatonton

Two Milledgeville teens have been arrested and two more are being sought by Eatonton Police Department in connection with an early morning shooting at the Shell Food Mart in Eatonton.

UPDATED: Man shot, killed at gas station in Eatonton, suspect found

An Eatonton man was shot at the Shell Food Mart Sunday afternoon and later died at the hospitals, authorities say. The alleged shooter was in custody approximately 24 hours later. Putnam County Coroner Hollis Harrison identified the victim as Frederick Scott Jr., 32, of Chase Circle, Eatonton.

Officers balance safety during high-speed chase

An alleged drunk driver who passed an officer’s patrol car and then led authorities on a high-speed chase in rainy conditions is now in jail, according to authorities, and Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell credits the officers for keeping Eatonton’s streets safe for other drivers.

PCSO, EPD combine efforts to stop drug sales

For the past several months, Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell and Putnam County Sheriff’s Lt. Harry Luke have been investigating drug sales in the city and some in the county. Five “street dealers” were arrested last week and warrants were issued for more, according to Luke.

Eatonton police cars get more efficient with laptops

Eatonton Police Department now has laptops in all its patrol cars thanks to a $30,000 grant the city of Eatonton received from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. “I am very pleased that the GOHS has chosen us for this grant,” Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.
