Putnam County boys’ basketball hasn’t faced much adversity this year but answered the bell Saturday against Jasper County.The Hurricanes (3-5) weren’t scared of the War Eagles (13-0), Class A Division I’s No. 1-ranked team.

Putnam County boys’ basketball completed the sweep of Morgan County with a convincing win on Dec. 14.Four players scored double figures for the War Eagles, who easily defeated the Dogs 76-61 and improved to 12-0.

Putnam County’s impressive start to the 2024-25 basketball season continued last week with three more wins. The War Eagles swept Hancock Central (85-71; 70-54) and topped Greene County (95-55). They entered this week with an 8-0 record on the year and are ranked No. 2 overall in Class A Division I.

The Putnam County boys’ basketball team topped rival Morgan County 65-45 behind a solid second-half effort.The two teams were tied 25-25 at the half, but the War Eagles outscored the Dogs 40-25 in the final two quarters.

War Eagles soar to successful start

The Putnam County boys’ basketball team is off to a successful 4-0 start to the 2024-25 season.The War Eagles began the regular season on Nov. 12 at Jones County and won 64-49. They’ve since defeated Groves, Monroe (Albany), and the Utopian Academy of the Arts.

War Eagles’ basketball begins summer slate

When the month began, the Putnam County War Eagles’ basketball team “hit the ground running” this summer.After a few practices at home in Eatonton, the team traveled to Atlanta to attend a camp at the Georgia Tech campus, where the War Eagles played some of the best competition attending.

War Eagles’ season ends in region tournament
