War Eagles grounded by Baldwin in season opener

The Putnam County War Eagles started the season off on the wrong foot last Friday with a 33-13 loss to Baldwin County. The Braves took advantage of early Putnam mistakes and never trailed in the game.

Game Preview: Putnam County at Oconee County

Oconee County and Putnam County are both winless, so Friday’s matchup in Watkinsville is huge for both teams. The Warriors have played a tough schedule so far against Class 4A’s No. 2-ranked North Oconee and a Class 5A program in Clarke Central.

Youth helps lift War Eagles past Tigers

Putnam County’s youth up front on the offensive and defensive lines and its rushing attack were key to Friday night’s scrimmage victory over Greene County. After trailing at halftime, the War Eagles fought back in the second half to defeat the Tigers, 27-14.

Daniel earns preseason All-State selection

Putnam County’s Rashod Daniel has been named a preseason all-state selection for Class AA by RecruitGeorgia. com, a site that covers high school sports in Georgia and helps its players get exposure. Daniel, who plays both ways for the War Eagles, was selected as a linebacker on Class AA’s defense.

GAME PREVIEW: War Eagles to host Tigers for scrimmage

Putnam County football is set to host Greene County later this week for a scrimmage to end fall camp. The War Eagles and Tigers will hit the gridiron for a second-straight preseason matchup. It will take place at Al Reaves Field on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Faith and family fuel War Eagles’ Beasley

Putnam County football assistant coach Beau Beasley is a busy individual. When he’s not coaching, he is teaching weight training at Putnam County Middle School, administering to the youth at his church, or being a devoted father and husband.
