BOC approves STR contested permits

Two contested short-term rental (STR) permits in the R-1R zone on Lake Oconee and rezoning requests for two sizeable developments around Harmony Crossing dominated the mid-month meeting of the Putnam County Board of Commissioners last week.

The Putnam Board of Commissioners’ second town hall-type hearing to consider short-term rentals (STRs) on the county’s two large lakes drew a crowd Tuesday morning almost as large as the first a couple of weeks ago.

Short-term rental issue draws crowd

Last week’s first of two special hearings on short-term rentals (STRs) at Putnam County’s two large lakes saw nearly 40 people take three-minute turns at the microphone giving an earful to the Putnam County Board of Commissioners. Some voiced specific complaints.
