Sylvia’s Coffee grand opening set Friday

Eatonton’s famous “Sylvia the Ghost,” haunting the town’s historic Panola Hall for 150 years, has inspired the grand opening July 21, of a new coffee shop bearing her name.

Sylvia’s: A Supernatural Coffee Bar, will officially open at 9 a.m.

Friday, complete with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce.

Located at 111 S. Jefferson St. on the courthouse square in downtown Eatonton, Sylvia’s Coffee adjoins the famous Georgia Writers Museum. Though named after the enigmatic apparition of a mysterious young Victorian lady believed to have passed in the house during the Civil War, it’s no mystery why Sylvia’s Coffee is so “Spooky Good,” everything served is freshly made and locally sourced.

Sylvia’s Coffee serves hand-crafted, individually made-to order espresso-based coffee drinks (hot, iced, and decaf), brewed from beans roasted locally by Oconee Coffee Roasters in Madison and paired with fresh milk from Rock House Creamery in Newborn. Teas, ice-blended smoothies, frappuccinos, and hot chocolates also are made to order.

Fresh breakfast scones, muffins, and cinnamon buns are baked by Coasties Bakery in Milledgeville.

Sylvia’s Coffee also carries gift items, including logoed shirts, mugs, and espresso cups, Oconee Coffee Roasters beans, and vintage books.

After Friday’s grand opening, Sylvia’s Supernatural Coffee Bar will be open 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only, with ample free parking streetside or in the rear lot.
