Christmas season comes to the Brown-Stetson-Sanford House

Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at The Depot, Inc. opened the doors to the 1825 Brown-Stetson-Sanford House on Dec. 9 to allow community members to take a peek at what Christmas looked like for the historic home.

Georgia Writers Museum named Georgia’s Best Museum

Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) has been selected as the best museum in Georgia by Georgia Business Journal’s Best of Georgia contest.Forty-seven statewide museums were nominated for the distinction.“We appreciate the many patrons who voted for the museum,” GWM President Lou Benjamin said.

Greensboro enjoys LCC’s ‘A Tinseltown Christmas’

The Lake Country Chorus (LCC) presented “A Tinseltown Christmas” at the First Methodist Church in Greensboro last Thursday evening.The annual event sold out once more and drew high praise from attendees.

Cuscowilla Women’s Club donates to Putnam charities

The Cuscowilla Women’s Club (CWC) recently awarded its year-end donations to four local charities, including Putnam Christian Outreach (below) and the Eatonton Service League (ESL) in Putnam County.In addition to cash donations, CWC members donated toys and gift cards for ESL’s annual toy drive.

‘Family Tree’ film focuses on Black foresters

The Plaza Arts Center reached the halfway point of its inaugural six-event Southern Circuit Film Tour on Nov. 20 with the showing of “Family Tree,” an exploration of two distinctly different Black families managing timber growth and sales on their North Carolina land.

Broadway’s Wicked the Musical recently debuted in theaters as a 160-minute feature starring American singer and actress Arianna Grande as Glinda the Good and British actress and singer Cynthia Ervio as Elphaba, the eventual Wicked Witch of the West.

Putnam County school bus driver Willie Reid has been named Grand Marshal for Eatonton’s annual Christmas parade this year. Reid has been driving a school bus for the Putnam County Charter School System for more than 56 years.“Mr. Reid is such an inspiration to this community.

Several months ago, Rashawd Ford approached the Plaza Arts Center staff with the idea of putting on a show himself. It took some time, but between budget meetings, marketing meetings, and figuring out a schedule, The Plaza and Ford developed a plan together.
