OSHM hosts Georgia architecture lecture

As part of Historic Preservation Month, Eatonton’s Old School History Museum (OSHM) hosted a lecture on May 7, “Architecture in Georgia: A Diagnostic Sampler of Type and Style, 1800-1940.

PCHS graduates largest-ever senior class

Putnam County High School (PCHS) celebrated its largest-ever senior class when 202 graduates were named in a ceremony May 26, at Al Reaves Field in Eatonton. PCHS Principal Dr. Andrew Cooper expressed immense pride when discussing the accomplishments of the graduates.

Dairy Festival queen is crowned

The Eatonton Service League (ESL) hosted its 62nd annual Dairy Festival Queen pageant on May 20, at The Plaza Arts Center, with more than 110 girls entering.

The music, life and times of Art Blakey

As part of its Jazz Legacy Project, Greensboro’s Festival Hall presented The Music of Art Blakey last Thursday night before an appreciative, sold-out audience.
Following the fashion show, models, presenters and organizers gathered on stage from l-r: Ashley Culberson, Lisa Hanscom, Diana Arendt, Juleen DuBois, Josephine Giles, Rick Franks, Suzanne Ramsey, Melinda Spivey, Dr. Jay Spivey, Sarah Spivey, Charlotte Mosteller, Charlotte Engel, Tammy Beatty, Nellie Quiros and Cindy Falanga.

First Call puts fashion first in May fundraiser

First Call Pregnancy Center (FCPC) held its 5th annual Spring Fashion Show Fundraiser on May 9, at Festival Hall in Greensboro. Doors opened early for shopping hosted by Spivey Jewelry & Fashion, followed by event hosts Dr. Rick Franks and Melinda Spivey kicking off the fun-filled event at 11 a.m.

Kina’s Krazy Kreations opens in Eatonton

It was a dream that became a reality on May 6 as Anfrankina Little staged a grand opening for Kina’s Krazy Kreations, a roadside chicken wings and burgers restaurant on the outside of the curve on Hwy. 44/South Oak Street, heading into the south end of downtown Eatonton.

National Day of Prayer observed at Lake Point

The National Day of Prayer was observed on May 4, at Lake Point Community Church in Eatonton. This marked the 71st anniversary for the nationwide event and represented the third time for Greene and Putnam counties to join in prayer.

Georgia was on everyone’s mind Saturday night in Eatonton, as the Atlanta-based Georgia Players Guild (GPG) presented “Sounds of Georgia,” packed with nearly two hours’ worth of famous songs from the 1950s to the ‘90s by famous Peach State bands and singers.
