An Atlanta man is facing charges in Eatonton after he attempted to cash a fake paycheck at The Peoples Bank, authorities say.
The man reportedly walked into the bank on Nov. 28 around 4 p.m. and handed the teller a check from Southern Yankees LLC in the amount of $925, according to an incident report by Eatonton police officer Rebecca Meeks.
The teller requested the man’s drivers license, and while she was making a copy of it, the man “became nervous and stated to her that his Uber was waiting outside,” the report reveals.
The man left the bank without the money, and the teller contacted Southern Yankees and learned he was not an employee there, so she called Eatonton Police Department.
Officer Meeks watched and copied the bank’s security video footage of the incident and secured a warrant.
Corey Lamar Washington, 33, of Meadow Park Drive, Atlanta, was arrested Nov. 29 on the charge of printing, executing, negotiating checks knowing the information thereon is fictitious.
