Green items found in baggies inside of a car during a traffic stop on St. Patrick’s Day didn’t bring any good luck to the driver. Instead of the end of the rainbow, the man was taken to jail by authorities.
Terrence O’Deius Paul, 41, of Sam Farley Way, Eatonton, was arrested on various drug trafficking charges and is being held in the Baldwin County jail, according to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office reports.
While on patrol at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17, BCSO Deputy Chance Rogers noticed a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe weave in the roadway on Log Cabin Road, speeding up and then slowing down significantly.
Rogers pulled the vehicle over and while talking to the driver, Paul, he noticed Paul’s hands were shaking, he was breathing heavily, sweating profusely, and the odor of marijuana was coming from inside the Tahoe.
Rogers noted in his report that Paul’s young daughter was a passenger in the vehicle, and Rogers radioed for Deputy Ryan Wright to assist him.
Wright arrived and after some back-and-forth debate between the driver and deputies, Paul was detained in the back of Rogers’ patrol vehicle. Paul’s daughter requested to sit beside her father and was allowed to sit in the back of the patrol vehicle with him.
Searching Paul’s pockets and the Tahoe, the deputies reportedly discovered clear bags of suspected marijuana that weighed approximately 3.5 ounces, and a large black weight scale; a small, clear bag containing a light green powder believed to be Ecstasy, which weighed 55 grams; a total of 124 suspected Ecstasy pills; some blue oval pills identified as Viagra; and $1,365 cash.
“I transported Paul to the jail without incident, and during the transport to the jail, Paul spontaneously uttered that the marijuana was CBD and the suspected Ecstasy was a ‘feel good pill’ you can buy at the store,” Rogers wrote in his report.
Paul’s mother was called by the authorities and arrived from Eatonton to take his daughter home with her.
Paul is facing charges of one count of felony possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with intent to distribute, one count of felony sale of a Schedule III, IV, or V controlled substance, one count of misdemeanor drugs not in original container, and misdemeanor failure to drive within a single lane.
