Held without bond in Putnam County jail
Two Milledgeville teens who were arrested in connection with an early morning shooting at the Shell Food Mart in Eatonton are now facing more charges, including some for firing gunshots inside a residence where two toddlers were at the time. No one was injured in the incident.
Jaquavious Draymon Solomon, who turned 17 years old just five days before the shooting, of Milledgeville, is facing charges of six counts of aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children first degree, and five counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree.
Miyah Angelo Pittman, 19, of Milledgeville, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault - party to a crime, five counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree - party to a crime, and two counts of cruelty to children first-degree party to a crime.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, gang members opened gunfire on their rivals in the parking lot of the gas station, Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.
The Shell Food Mart, located on East Sumter Street, is open 24/7 and about 10 people were out in front of the gas station at the time.
Another group of people walked by and began firing guns. The two groups were rival gang members, belonging to the Gangster Disciples and the Bloods in Milledgeville, according to Cardwell. The police chief said the two alleged shooters parked their car and got out and walked past the gas station and opened fire.
More than 30 shell casings of .9s, 40s, and .223s were found by authorities in the parking lot of the Shell, as well as in front of the A Kid’s World of Peace daycare across the street from the Shell. Some shots also went inside a residence across the street where two young toddlers were, records reveal.
Solomon and Pittman were initially arrested June 6 on three counts of aggravated assault, but more charges were added June 7 following further investigation of the case, Sheriff Howard Sills said. Both Solomon and Pittman were brought before the magistrate and were ordered to be held without bond.
The case remains under investigation, Cardwell said Tuesday.
