School funding addressed at EPTAH meeting

Pressure on local school boards to come up with an increasingly larger share of funding for public schools was touched on for the third time in four months during member organizations’ activity reports at the monthly meeting of the Eatonton-Putnam Tourism, Arts, and Heritage partnership (EPTAH).

More Highway 44 roundabouts on the way

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has decided to create four more roundabouts when it widens Highway 44 (Lake Oconee Parkway) in Putnam and Greene counties. The four would be in addition to the previously announced roundabout at Linger Longer Road near Publix.

Judge orders Rivian opponents to pay bond to continue lawsuit

Work to develop the site for one of Georgia’s largest economic development projects continues for EV-maker Rivian as multiple cases work their way through courts. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas A. Cox Jr. ruled on April 21 that the state is entitled to a bond of $364,619.

After a foot chase through a briar patch, a man wanted by authorities in other counties was captured in Eatonton. State probation officers came to Putnam County April 20 because they learned Tommy Kell was staying in Putnam, Sheriff Howard Sills said.
