Putnam Collaborative meeting addresses mentoring

Mentorship was the primary topic of discussion last Wednesday at the Putnam County Collaborative meeting. Approximately 15 people attended in the Plaza Arts Center’s reception hall, including representatives from healthcare, education, churches, non-profits, and local businesses.

Golf group raises funds for no-cost mammograms at Good Samaritan

Reynolds Women’s Golf Association (WGA) 18 Holers recently held their annual Chip in for a Cure tournament to support St Mary’s Good Samaritan Breast Health fund. They crushed it by raising $55,156.45, bringing their two-year contribution to over $100,000.

County calls for transportation bond referendum

On March 12, 2023, Putnam County voters will be asked to approve the sale of general obligation bonds totaling a maximum of $22 million. The purpose will be the resurfacing of dozens of small roads and subdivision streets in the unincorporated part of the county.

UPDATE: ‘Miracle’ survival of crash with log truck

An Alabama woman who crashed into a log truck in Eatonton on Nov. 13 is miraculously back home, authorities say. “She walked in here (Eatonton Police Department) today to pick up her (belongings) that were in her car, and I couldn’t believe it,” Chief Howell Cardwell said last Tuesday.
