PCSO investigating rash of stolen utility vehicles

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are investigating a rash of stolen utility task vehicles (UTVs), lifted golf carts, and zero-turn lawnmowers on trailers from residences around Lakes Sinclair and Oconee.

Putnam woman faces federal accusation

A Putnam County woman who was arrested in August 2022 was accused by federal authorities recently, according to records from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Macon. Jennifer Kay Smith, 49, of Rockville Road, Eatonton, was charged on Sept. 30 by information to one count of federal program theft.

Eatonton Council saves some money

Eatonton City Council members were pleased-unto-gushing last week with City Administrator Gary Sanders’ report to the council, stating the city had saved $162,000 off its 50-percent share of a Community Development Block Grant for five street maintenance projects.

Putnam K9 assists in three arrests for stolen ATM

Three men reportedly stole an ATM from Robins Federal Credit Union in Milledgeville and were in jail within minutes of the theft thanks to Milledgeville Police Department officers, Baldwin Sheriff’s deputies, and a Putnam County Sheriff’s K9 officer and handler. Shortly before 5:30 a.m.
