The election season is upon us all and as the issues become more poignant; good, bad or indifferent, it can be easy to lose sight of what issues are really important if a candidate is only interested in becoming the master of smoke and mirrors and defining a legacy of well, not being straight with folks.
To take the time to listen to folks is how a candidate truly knows what is on the minds of citizens. The consistency of issues discussed points to a number of legitimate concerns but right at the top is maintaining the rural beauty of Putnam County. The widening of Highway 44 from Carey Station to
The widening of Highway 44 from Carey Station to Harmony Road is not the answer to maintaining the beauty. More problematic is the potential devastation of widening the highway and seeing the wake of destroyed businesses that may not be able to survive the project.
The economic vitality of the corridor must be maintained for our friends not to lose what has been invested in an area that some may say is collateral damage for big development; saying only that’s the way it has to be for the future growth of the county.
Future growth? On whose terms? That’s not the way it has to be or shall be. We will build a better future in Putnam County together and it will all start with hearing each other’s voices.
A four lane super speedway through that part of our county is an expensive and ridiculous notion when considering who is really important-us. Together, we will build a better future.
