I understand Mr. Stephen Hersey seeks another term as Putnam BOC Chairman. This would not be good for Putnam County and I will offer a few examples to support my reason for believing same.
He has been Chairman of the Putnam BOC, EPWSA, BOE and a member of the Sinclair Water Authority Board(SWA). I observed his methods first hand on two of these boards & from a distance on the other two. He was prone to spending our tax & user dollars unwisely, i.e. a $1,000,000 water line in North Putnam that was ill advised, authorized $50,000 on engineering cost for an unnecessary water line to HIS neighborhood, required mandatory EPWSA customer water leak insurance through an expensive third party, & attempted to sell water to another third party at a price BELOW OUR COST. Two of these examples were ceased or modified once he left office.
Mr. Hersey was also the driving force behind building our High School in a location that increased operating cost & created lasting inconvenience for parents & students.
His stubborn and dictatorial behavior created unnecessary discord within EPWSA, BOC, SWA, City of Eatonton and a neighboring County. He even carried his antics to the point of refusing to attend SWA Board meetings so as to disrupt the business of a Board tasked with overseeing a water treatment facility JOINTLY owned by Putnam County.
