Dear editor:
I am so excited, so much has happened the past week or two.
First, we are getting some rain. The pollen level is going down, and I have some relief from sinus problems.
Last week, I went to Honors Night on Wednesday night and Thursday night at PCHS. My 11th grandchild (B.J. Ruff) received two awards on Wednesday for the 9 th through 11 th grades. On Thursday night (senior night). Mothers Against Crime presented two scholarships. Ke’Asia Waller and Keledrian Barron – and the presidential award to Courtney Waller. Each scholarship is for $500 each.
And we are still busy on Saturday night. Mothers Against Crime celebrated their 30 th year anniversary. The event was held at the Plaza at 7 p.m. It was a memorable event with good food, great supporters and old-fashioned gospel singing with the Sons United of Atlanta and the Gospel Ensemble of Eatonton. In other words, it was not your ordinary banquet but an old fashioned church reunion (because we are all friends and family). Thank you everyone for the participation and words of encouragement over the past 30 years.
Thank you Blackwell Furniture for the beautiful platter. It was won by Fannie Hill. And the beautiful vase donated by Andrea Perkins was won by Margaret Clemons. Thank you Lynn Hobbs and Hank Segars for all the pictures. Eatonton-Putnam County is really a family. If you don’t’ believe it, move here. We will prove it.
One Brother Ministry presented Mothers Against Crime with an engraved plaque with all the MAC members names on it and an individual certificate for each member. We are more than blessed.
Thought for today: A good student listens, tries, learns, applies, then turns to help others find their way.
God bless – Georgia Benjamin-Smith
