Man arrested for allegedly beating two women

An Eatonton man who previously was incarcerated for beating his mother was arrested Sunday for allegedly beating two other women, according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills.

David Douglas Hieber, 35, of West Marion Street, Eatonton, was arrested around 2 p.m. Sept. 18 and charged with one count aggravated assault, one count aggravated assaultfamily violence, and one count misdemeanor battery-family violence.

The victims, two women ages 48 and 31, told Deputy Paul Bernichon the assaults took place at 114 North Madison Avenue, which is the Bronson House. The 31-year-old reportedly said Hieber threw her to the floor and dragged her across the apartment by her hair, then grabbed her neck and strangled her until she could not breathe. She said after that, he pulled his belt off and beat her with it, then pulled out a knife and held it up to her and “threatened to cut the babies out of her and feed them to her,” Sills said, reading the incident report.

The 48-year-old woman said she began to cry because she was worried neighbors in the other apartments would call the police. She reportedly said Hieber also grabbed her by the neck and strangled her in an effort to make her stop crying.

Sills said Hieber was convicted in December 2019 and sentenced to serve two years in prison for assaulting his mother and some other people; that case was handled by Eatonton Police Department according to court records, he said.
