Willis arrested for theft of services

Jim Willis, well known in the community as a businessman and for his leadership in the local VFW and Veterans Wall of Honor Park, was arrested Friday evening, according to jail records.

The 72-year-old Alto Road resident was charged with one count of theft of services. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Willis hired a well pump services company to do some work on his personal property, and when it was completed, he never paid them. Because the total bill was $2,400, the charge against Willis is a felony, Sills said. Anything less than $1,500 is a misdemeanor in Georgia.

Willis was released Monday, Sept. 26, on a $5,000 bond.
