FOOTBALL: Gators stomp Crusaders in 2022 season opener

Gatewood Schools got its 2022 football season off to a great start Friday night, winning 50-29 in a non-conference game over the visiting Trinity Christian Crusaders from Dublin. Still, Gators head coach Jeff Ratliff was left looking for more.

FOOTBALL: War Eagles’ defense shines in debut

Putnam County relied on its defense Friday night to defeat Baldwin 23-14 in the 2022 season opener. The War Eagles (1-0) flew all over the field, making tackles and wreaking havoc on the Braves (0-2) in their victory.

Charles Winslette is already a Putnam County football legend, but his career reached new heights last Friday. Winslette won the 350th game of his career (combined as a head and assistant coach), as the Putnam War Eagles bested the Baldwin Braves, 23-14 in their 2022 season opener.
