PCHS softball gets in the win column

The Putnam County High School Lady Eagles softball team bounced back from last week’s season-opening losses with plenty of spirit. The girls worked hard, learning their new positions better and learning to play hard to come out on top. The Lady Eagles were scheduled to play Oglethorpe Aug.

War Eagles set to face Braves in season opener

Putnam County will open up the season with Baldwin High on Friday night at Al Reaves Stadium. The Braves faced Class AAA powerhouse Peach County last week in their season opener. The Trojans from Ft. Valley defeated Baldwin 50-20 at Braves Field.

Columnist When you are young, night football is fun, but when you get to be long in the tooth, you prefer afternoon football so that the hassles that accompany night games such as traffic and a delayed bedtime hour don’t ruin your weekend. Night games, nonetheless, will always enjoy priority.

Kel-Mac Saddle Club returns with annual horse shows

The Kel-Mac Saddle Club will hold its 46th annual horse shows this fall (Sept. 17, Oct. 8), at the Morgan County Agricultural Center (2380 Athens Hwy., Madison). Established in 1976, Kel-Mac is the oldest saddle club in Georgia.

Eatonton Messenger The Putnam County High School (PCHS) softball team faced its first week of real ball this season, with the Lady War Eagles getting started Aug. 10, at Lincoln County High School. That game ended with the Lincoln team ahead 17-5 in the fourth inning as time ran out.
