Competition cheer gears up at PCHS

The Putnam County High School (PCHS) Lady Eagles Cheerleaders had the chance to participate in a cheer camp July 25-26, led by Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) staff. The UCA camp helped both veteran and new girls understand what’s expected of them when the official cheer season begins.

New path ahead for PCHS cross country

Putnam County High School’s cross-country team will see many changes this season. Most significantly, veteran coach Dawn Walker will no longer be joining the team during practice or competitions as she chose recently to retire.

DNR: bald eagles set nesting record in Georgia

Georgia’s first statewide survey of bald eagle nests in five years showed the national bird nesting in record numbers, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Survey flights this winter and spring to find and monitor nesting bald eagles counted 229 nest territories.

With Coach Jerusha Hudson stepping down, this season Putnam County High School’s Lady Eagles will be starting this season off with a new coach, Derrick Arrington. Arrington went to college at Columbus State University and teaches high school math at Putnam County.
