Six days after a thrilling first round win over Bacon County in the state soccer tournament, the Putnam County Lady War Eagles ran into the proverbial buzz saw in Atlanta, losing to the Lovett Lady Lions 10-0.

Gatewood’s Garric Embry won the shotput competition at the GISA AA state track meet held at Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove April 21-23. Embry’s throw of 45’ 11.5” was nearly a more than a foot further than Thomas Denton’s of Brentwood who finished second with a throw of 44” 9.75”.

A Putnam County baseball team at full strength is dangerous, although that hasn’t been the case for the past couple of weeks. The War Eagles dropped five straight contests to end the regular season. They also snuck into the GHSA Class AA state playoffs as the No. 4-seed out of Region 4-AA.
