Temple terminates War Eagles in first round

Putnam County’s season ended last week at Temple in the opening round of Class A Division I playoffs. The Tigers used a solid second-half effort to win 40-27 and advance. However, they made mistakes, including turning the ball over early, and the War Eagles took advantage of them.

Gatewood wins 9th state shotgun title

Led by Carson Lingle and Bryson Elwer, who finished first and second overall, the Gatewood Varsity Shotgun Team secured its ninth GIAA AA state championship in the past 11 years this past weekend at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.

Come-from-behind win keeps Gators' playoff hopes alive

Bulldogs hope to rebound against Vols

War Eagles take on Temple to open playoffs

After a long regular season, No. 23 seeded Putnam County (5-5) recently learned it will play No. 10 Temple (8-2) in the first round of the 32-team playoffs.Putnam will travel to northwest Georgia on Friday to face Temple, a senior-led team that hopes to win the state championship this year.

Putnam boys’ basketball ready for redemption

The Putnam County War Eagles will begin their 2024-25 regular season next week at Jones County.They ended last season on a disappointing note by missing the playoffs for the first time under coach LaPatrick Marshall.

Gators win 48-8 to wrap up regular season

Gatewood celebrated Senior Night by wrapping up its 2024 regular season with a dominating 48-8 victory over the visiting Jaguars of Thomas Jefferson Academy out of Louisville. It marked the most points scored by Gatewood so far this season.
