Storylines surrounding Georgia emerge at SEC media days

SEC Media Days in Dallas, Texas, featured two new additions to the storied football conference this week.Texas and Oklahoma officially joined the SEC on July 1. However, according to several national polls, the Georgia Bulldogs are back on top, ranked No. 1 in the country heading into 2024.

McCurley: High school football starts next month

Georgia’s high school football season officially begins on Aug. 16, but scrimmages start on Aug. 2, which is wild. So, the next couple of weeks will be busy, but I am excited for the ride as I enter year four of covering the sport.

Putnam pitcher Hunter Holder commits to Thomas University

Putnam County infielder and pitcher Hunter Holder had a phenomenal senior campaign as a War Eagle. In 37.1 innings pitched this past season, Holder struck out 46 batters while walking just 22 and allowing just 33 hits and 27 runs.Holder had 13 hits, 14 runs scored, and six RBIs at the plate.

Wooten ‘excited’ to play at Augusta

Playing baseball collegiately has always been Lawson Wooten’s dream. Now, that dream will soon become reality, as the Gatewood pitcher and infielder recently announced he will play baseball at Augusta University next spring.“It’s honestly a dream come true, and I am excited,” Wooten said.
